Fear is an emotion easily expressed in the eyes. By eliminating the gaze in this series, I aim to communicate the effect of fear through body language. An intimate setting, a subject caught in a private moment, renders the viewer intrusive to the scene. The subject is vulnerable, yet her defenses are raised. She denies her face to the camera, her head obscured by hair and hands. She cowers, crouches, hiding from an undefined source of fear. It is not a frightened fear, not a moment of shock, rather a gnawing anxiety, a crippling dread, an overwhelming fear that has turned the act of taking a shower into a torturous ritual.
