These images were all shot within the wasteland of the 'Zone of Alienation' following the nuclear disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which occurred on 26th April 1986. My visit was taken 25 years after the 'accident', as it was termed; exactly 9,310 days later. This disaster was the end of the world for so many affected in the days, weeks, months and years afterwards. It was only thanks to the enormous sacrifices of people like the 'roof cats' who gave their lives to slow and painful deaths in order to stop the spread of radiation and contain the effects, that the world did not suffer more.
