My name is Christopher Cox. I am an untrained Rhode Island Artist with a boat building and custom fabrication background. Art for me is and escape or cry for help, normally when I create what I consider my best stuff I am enveloped in a manic state. I try to do good with my art, my goal is for people to smile when they see it. All my sculptures I envision on a grand scale and consider each one a maquette. I call what I do "seeing art" I manipulate each piece until something about it clicks and says "this is art" to me. For a long time I forgot all about art and it's impact on the world, on me and that I even enjoyed making it. Something woke me up and now, while I don't make a practice of seeking out viewing other people's art, I can't stop making my own.

So I have this problem. When I first started working at the art restoration and custom fabrication shop I used to work at it was to help move the entire company to a new shop a few towns over. At that time I had all but forgotten about art and was just all about boats or trying to come up with inventions. Like I made art and sculpture when I was 19-21 but then stopped and forgot all about it for some reason. But then when I saw what that shop did I remembered I could see art. During the mov... The sculpture consists of six monoliths arranged in a cluster invoking the essence of Stonehenge. River crab
Wood and Fiberglass
29 x 8 x 30 in

I wish to build this sculpture in as large a scale as possible dependent on budget and location. Depending on the scale it will be built entirely of composites, or a hybrid of metal and composites. Ideally we could find a way to realize this on a truly mammoth scale, Providence’s answer to the chrome bean in Chicago, or the glass pyramids at the Louvre in France. The smallest I would be willing to scale this piece would be 2 inches equals one foot in respect to the original maquette and mount... (continued)
