As the world adopts moral relativistic attitudes, it is my goal to create narratives which expose that lie and instead, dissect the intricacies of tension occurring within us when context determines a moral absolute. The subjects in my paintings are reflections of people, objects, or situations that have piqued my interest. Sometimes the attraction is purely aesthetic in a superficial way the way the light hits a surface or the quiet energy of a figure's pose. Other times the subject has thematic or narrative significance that references personal experience. My desire to create ultimately comes from the need to transform something from the ordinary to the extraordinary, to enhance, set it apart and refine its presentation.
